O jovem brasileiro 17 anos exigidos na final contra o veterano de 31 anos de Tom Whitaker debaixo de sol e com ondas perfeitas de 2-3 metros para marcar. Com manobras muito aéreas, Gabriel deixou nenhuma chance para seus adversários. Ele posta uma onda perfeita, indicada por 10 pontos e consolida a sua pontuação com um 9,10 para uma gritante 19,10 pontos!

aqui e eu queria fazer (...) Eu estava com minha família e eu me senti
em casa", disse Medina, após sua vitória. Este resultado permite-lhe para voltar para o lugar 27 do "ASP Men's World Ranking".
"Gabriel foi o melhor surfista do evento (...) Ninguém foi capaz de vencê-lo hoje. É
bom ver um jovem piloto a vencer aqui (...) Eu amo este lugar, eu tive

Cette étape du circuit Star Series était dotée de 6.500 points et 40.000 dollars pour le vainqueur.
Le jeune brésilien de 17 ans s'impose en finale face au vétéran de 31 ans Tom Whitaker sous un ciel ensoleillé et avec des vagues de 2-3 mètres parfaites pour scorer. Avec des manoeuvres très aériennes, Gabriel n'a laissé aucune chance à son adversaire du jour. Il poste une vague parfaite, notée 10 points et consolide son score avec un 9,10 pour un total impressionnant de 19,10 points !
« Je ne sais pas quoi dire (…) C'est la première fois que je surfais ici et je voulais bien faire (…) J'étais avec ma famille et je me sentais comme à la maison » a déclaré Medina après sa victoire. Ce résultat lui permet de remonter à la 27ème place du « ASP Men’s World Ranking ».
« Gabriel a été le meilleur surfeur de l'évènement (…) Personne n'a été capable de le battre aujourd'hui. C'est agréable de voir un jeune surfeur gagner ici (…) J'adore cet endroit, j'ai eu de bons résultats ici » déclare Tom en sortant de l'eau. Il en profite pour remonter à la 36ème place.
Le Néo-Zélandais Richard Christie et l'Américain Gabe Kling complètent le podium de l'évènement.
Côté Europe Aritz Aranburu et Maxime Huscenot ont été stoppés très rapidement au round 2 alors que Glenn Hall, Alain Riou, Hodei Collazo, Joan Duru, Marc Lacomare, Tim Boal et Romain Cloitre n'ont pas passé un tour sur cette étape. Pas génial les résultats en ce moment sur les « Star Series » pour les européens ! Nul doute qu'ils vont se reprendre sur leurs terres !
Les étapes brésiliennes s'enchaînent et la domination des locaux est impressionnante ! La victoire d'Adriano de Souza sur l'étape du World Tour à Rio a donné des ailes aux brésiliens.
